abstract In the terminal units, each having a Si-bonded hydroxyl group, diorganopolysiloxanes are produced in that cyclic diorganopolysiloxane and / or diorganodichlorosilane hydrolyzate with 0.1 to 3% by weight diorganodichlorosilane, based on the weight of the amount of cyclic diorganopolysiloxane and / or diorganosilane hydride used and / or, in the presence of 1 to 50 ppm by weight of phosphorus nitride chloride, based on the total weight of the amount of organosilicon compounds used in each case, in the terminal units each having a Si-bonded chlorine atom containing diorganopolysiloxane, the reaction mixture is then treated with water or aqueous solution, and after the aqueous phase has been separated off, the lower-boiling constituents are removed by distillation from the diorganopolysiloxanes each having an Si-bonded hydroxyl group in the terminal units.
