titleOfInvention Homogeneous aqueous solution electrolyte test
abstract The invention provides methods of producing a nhomogeneous aqueous solution capable of measuring the nconcentration of an ion in an aqueous sample and ncompositions useful for this purpose. The invention nis particularly useful for measuring alkali cations nof medical interest such as sodium, potassium, ncalcium and lithium. When a protein ladened body nfluid, such as serum, is the test sample, the test ncomposition or solution preferably includes a nstabilizer such as a water miscible polymer or a ndetergent. The invention provides a single phase naqueous test solution which can be used on convenĀntional analyzers including large clinical analyzers nwith other colorimetric diagnostic tests. No phase nseparation or centrifugation is required to perform nthe measurement.
