abstract A unitary piston cap and boot seal (260) for use in a medication infusion system, mounted on a rigid piston (282) contained in a cylinder (112) disposed in a cassette. The piston cap and boot seal (262, 264) which are made of a flexible, elastomeric material effectively form the pumping element in the cylinder, and prevent contamination of the pump through use of a rolling seal (266). The device may be sterilised by gas, since a tortuous path (276) affording passage for the gas is included in the retaining skirt (264) mounted around the outer diameter of the pump cylinder (112).
