titleOfInvention Preparation of linear polyester compositions via polyepoxide concentrate
abstract Linear polyester compositions having high melt nviscosities, especially under conditions of low shear, are nprepared in a two-step method. The first step is the nintimate blending of an inert polymer, preferably a polynester, polycarbonate or copolyestercarbonate, with a polynfunctional epoxyalkyl compound such as triglycidyl isocyannurate to form a concentrate. The second step is the reacntion of said concentrate with a polyester, such as polyn(ethylene terephthalate) or poly(butylene terephthalate), ncontaining a measurable proportion of carboxylic acid end ngroups.
