abstract In a tobacco supply installation for machines for making cigaretes, the tobacco (9) is conveyed by suction from a supply bin (1). The end (14) of the duct (3), placed opposite the container above the tobacco level (19) is provided with a device for adjusting the tobacco flow rate, so as to allow a continuous supply from the cigarette making machine. The device consists of a movable sleeve (17) which can slide on the end part (14) of the duct, so that the lower edge (18) of the sleeve is always at a desired distance H continuously detected by a sensor ( 25), the quantity of tobacco aspirated to be adapted to the production regime being a function of H. The other end (15) of the conduit (3) opens onto a tangential lock (12). The adjustment device (16) combined with the tangential lock makes it possible to reduce the degradation of tobacco particles.
