abstract Disclosed herein is a novel brassinosteroid derivative represented by the formula:n wherein R₃ represents C₁₋₂-alkyl, nR₁ and R₂ which may be the same or different, represent hydrogen or acyl, respectively, otherwise R₁ and R₂, combining together, may formn wherein R₄ and R₅ represent C₁₋₂-alkyl, and R₃ represents methyl only in this case. n The brassinosteroid derivative represented by the above formula (I) exhibits a favorable plant growth regulating effect on various plants in agriculture and horticulture.
