titleOfInvention Process for the production of epoxy derivatives with cis-configuration, by starting from mixtures of the corresponding olefinic stereoisomers
abstract Process for producing epoxy derivatives with cis-configuration by starting from mixtures of cis- and trans-isomers of the corresponding olefinic compounds by means of the oxidation of the corresponding olefinic compounds with hydrogen peroxide, or with compounds capable of producing hydrogen peroxide under the reaction conditions, in the presence of synthetic zeolites containing titanium atoms, wherein the process is carried out by operating with hydrogen peroxide in an amount lower than, or equal to, the amount, by mol, of the olefinic compound with cis-configuration which is present in the mixture, the so-obtained epoxy compound of substantially cis-configuration is separated from the unreacted olefinic compounds, essentially constituted by isomers with trans-configuration, the olefinic compound with substantially trans-configuration is submitted to low temperature isomerization, in order to reach the equilibrium composition, and the so-isomerized olefinic compound is recycled to the oxidation area.
