abstract | Star-branched, optionally hydrogenated copolymers of vinyl aromatic hydrocarbons and conjugated dienes, prepared by anionic solution polymerization using alkali metal organic initiators and subsequent coupling with a polyfunctional coupling agent, where they have a crosslinked center which itself is a copolymer of polyvinyl aromatic hydrocarbons and monovinyl aromatic hydrocarbons, the Weight ratio of monovinyl aromatic hydrocarbon to polyvinyl aromatic hydrocarbon is greater than or equal to 7: 1 and less than 60: 1, and a process for the preparation of star-branched copolymers, the linear copolymers obtained having active, terminal lithium carbon Bonds are coupled with the addition of a mixture of monovinyl aromatic hydrocarbon and polyvinyl aromatic hydrocarbon and where in the weight ratio of monovinyl aromatic hydrocarbon to polyvinyl aromatic hydrocarbon is greater than or equal to 7: 1 and less than 60: 1 and this mixture is metered in continuously or in several portions over a longer period of time. |
