abstract |
A phosphate adsorbent comprising an MgO-TiO₂ complex as an active ingredient is useful as an antihyperphosphoremial agent, an adsorbent for hemoperfusion and a therapeutical agent for renal diseases. The complex can be deposited on active carbon. In a preferred embodiment, the MgO:TiO₂ molar ratio in the complex is in the range of 99.99:0.01 to 80:20, the specific surface area of the adsorbent as measured by BET method is in the range of 50 to 700 m²/g and the adsorbent shows a crystal diffraction pattern of MgO in powder X-ray diffractometry. |
