Catalytic components for copolymerizing ethylene with alpha-olefins, or alpha-olefins with one another, and possible with a diene as a termonomer, are compounds obtained by the reaction of:n (a) a magnesium compound of the formula: n nR′ y MgX n (OR) 2-n n nwherein: nX is a chlorine or romine atom; nR and R′ are the same or different and each is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon radical containing up to 20 carbon atoms; nn is a number from 0 to 1.8, inclusive; ny is a number from 0 to 1, inclusive; and nn+y = 2; nor a magnesium compound of the formula: n nMgCL₂.mROH n nwherein nR is as defined above, and nm is a number from 0.2 to 6; and (b) a titanium compound of the formula: n nTi(OR) z X 4-Z , n nwherein: n X and R are as defined above; and nZ is a number from 0 to 1, inclusive; nthe reaction product having a Mg/Ti molar ratio of from 0.5 to 50, inclusive, and an OR/Ti molar ratio of from 0.7 to 10, inclusive. n The catalyst components are used as catalyst in admixture with metal alkyls, especially aluminium alkyls, and the products obtained are suitably subjected to a subsequent vulcanization step. |
