A detergent composition contains a detergent active material, a carbonate builder, such as sodium carbonate, and a calcium containing compound ideally selected from specific calcium pyrophosphates, as an antideposition agent. The latter is characterised by a defined calcium influence test. Preferred calcium pyrophosphate compounds may be made by mixing solutions of calcium chloride and sodium dihydrogen pyrophosphate at a pH of less than 3.6 and removing the precipitate which forms. |
