abstract | The fuel element comprises a plurality of modular capsules (5) arranged one after the other in the axial direction, inside a sheath (2). Each of the modular capsules (5) comprises a tubular envelope (10) closed at its two ends by a porous element (13, 14) and containing a stack of pellets (11) in contact with the interior surface of the envelope (10) without radial clearance. The outer diameter of the capsules (5) is such that a very small radial clearance remains between the outer surface of the capsule (5) and the inner surface of the sheath (2). |
