One method of stimulating angiogenesis in mammals is to use a collagen synthesis modulator or a set of collagen fibrils. The modulator is preferably an inhibitor of the proline hydroxylase enzyme. The modulator is preferably chosen from the group which comprises cis-4-hydroxy-L-proline, 3,4-dehydro-L-proline, L-azetidine-2-carboxylic acid, analogous compounds of L-proline and their analogous compounds and their pharmacologically active derivatives. Said modulator can optionally be used in combination with a second angiogenesis stimulator. Compositions containing said modulators are also described. |
