abstract | Process which comprises reacting a mixture of pyromellitic dianhydride, at least one perfluoroalkylethyl alcohol and epichlorohydrin in an organic base-containing solvent which is substantially inert to pyromellitic dianhydride, and recovering a mixture of monomeric bis-(n-perfluoroalkylethyl)-bis-(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)-pyromellitates and at least one oligomeric product which is believed to be represented by the formula: nn wherein n R f is -CH₂CH₂(CF₂) n CH₃; n n is an integer from 3 to 17; n R is -n and n R¹ differs from R² and each is R f or R. |
