titleOfInvention | Foundry moulding compositions containing sand, a polyurethane binder and a nitro compound |
abstract | The subject of the present invention is an improvement to the compositions intended for the manufacture of casting moulds or cores containing sand and the raw materials needed for the in-situ polymerisation of a binder of the polyurethane type. The improvement consists in adding 5 to 50% by weight of a nitro compound of formula R1R2CHNO2 where R1 and R2 = H, or CnH2n+1 with n = 1 to 6 where R1 and R2 form with the carbon atom substituted by the NO2 group a saturated hydrocarbon ring containing 3 to 6 atoms of optionally alkyl-substituted carbon in relation to the quantity of polyol containing at least two OH groups per molecule and reacting with a polyisocyanate containing at least two NCO groups per molecule. The addition of this nitro compound makes it possible to obtain moulds or cores combining good mechanical properties before the casting of the metal in the mould with a good disintegration after the casting of the molten metal. |
