A draw type optical recording medium can form information pits in a recording layer by the radiation of energy beams such as laser beam and can record optical data. Moreover, it can read data immediately after write of the data without any developing step or the like afterthe data write operation. The medium is characterized by a laminate structure, on a base material (2), of a recording layer (3) on which the information pits are formed due to physical change upon radiation of the energy beam and a sensitizer layer (4) which promotes thermochemically the physical change in the recording layer (3). The sensitizer layer improves the recording sensitivity as well as stability of the medium with time. Furthermore, since this sensitizer layer makes it possible to form the optical recording medium in an enclosed structure, the optical recording medium can be made light in weight and flexible. Therefore, the optical recording medium can assume various shapes such as a card, a sheet, a flexible disk, and so forth. |
