abstract The present invention relates to a device for driving at least one rotary tool for a lathe.n n n By means of two clutches (43, 155) , a shaft (52) for driving rotary tools can be driven at will either by the main means (19) for driving the spindle (12) of the lathe, or, independently of these main drive means (19) , by auxiliary drive means (152) ; thus, from the same shaft (52) for driving rotary tools, it is possible to drive both tools having to work on a rotating part (13) , while respecting a determined ratio in the respective rotational speeds of the part (13) and the tool (103) , as tools having to rotate on themselves at a speed independent of the speed of rotation or the absence of rotation of the part (13) .n n n The auxiliary drive means (152) can also be used to index the spindle (12) and the workpiece (13) when the main drive means (19) are stopped .
