abstract There are new 13-spiro-2ʹ- [tetrahydrofuran] milbemycins of formula I. in which X represents one of the groups -CH (OR₁) -, -C (= O) - or -C (= N-OH) -; R₁ represents hydrogen or an OH protecting group; R₂ is methyl, ethyl, isopropyl or sec-butyl or the group -C (CH₃) = CH-A, where A is methyl, ethyl or isopropyl; and R₃ is hydrogen, C₁-C₁₀-alkyl, by at least one substituent from the group halogen, C₁-C₆-alkoxy, C₂-C₆-alkoxyalkoxy, C₃-C₉-alkoxyalkoxyalkoxy, C₁-C₆-alkylthio, C₃-C₇-cycloalkyl, by C₁- C₃-alkyl substituted C₃-C₇-cyclaolkyl, hydroxy, benzyloxy, C₁-C₆-acyl and C₁-C₆-acyloxy substituted C₁-C₁₀-alkyl, each of the aforementioned, an alkoxy group-containing or containing radicals at a terminal alkoxy group by Hydroxy, halogen, C₁-C₆-acyl or C₁-C₆-acyloxy may be substituted, C₃-C₇-cycloalkyl, substituted by at least one substituent from the group halogen and C₁-C₃-alkyl C₃-C₇-cycloalkyl, C₃-C₇-cycloalkenyl, C₂-C₁₀-alkenyl, C₂-C₁₀-alkynyl, a radical substituted by halogen, C₁-C₆-alkoxy or C₁-C₆-acyloxy from the group C₂-C₁₀-alkenyl and C₂-C₁₀ alkynyl, 1-adamantylmethyl, menthyl, carveyl, phenyl, benzyl, naphthyl, one by at least one substituent from the group halogen, C₁-C₃-alkyl, C₁-C₃-haloalkyl, C₁-C₃-alkoxy, C₁-C₃ -Haloalkoxy, C₁-C₃-alkylthio, nitro and cyano substituted radical from the group phenyl, benzyl and naphthyl, substituted by a phenoxy group, benzyl, or an unsubstituted or by at least one substituent from the group halogen, C₁-C₃-alkyl, C₁-C₃ -Haloalkyl, C₁-C₃-alkoxy, C₁-C₃-haloalkoxy, C₁-C₃-alkylthio, nitro and cyano substituted four- to six-membered heterocycle with one to three heteroatoms from the group representing oxygen, sulfur and nitrogen, said heterocycle also via be a C₁-C₆ alkylene bridge to the oxygen atom in the 5ʹ position of the tetrahydrofuran ring can, as well as their production and use against parasites on farm animals and insect pests.
