abstract | A substantially anhydrous propellant-containing antiperspirant product suitable for topical application to the skin comprises a finely-divided powder antiperspirant agent which is normally insoluble in the liquid phase of the product, an anhydrous alcohol chosen from ethanol, isopropanol or mixtures thereof, a suspending agent in the form of a hydrophobically treated clay, a normally gaseous anhydrous propellant and optionally and emollient liquid which is less volatile than isopropanol and a normally liquid anhydrous propellant; provided that the weight ratio of the suspending agent to the anhydrous alcohol is from 2:1 to 1:12 to achieve maximum efficacy as measured by sweat weight reduction following topical application of the product to perspiring skin. |
