abstract Compounds of the formula are used as dispersants with foam-inhibiting properties in aqueous polymer dispersions and latices R₁- (CH₂) m -O- (CH₂-CH₂) n -R₂ used. In this formula, R₁ is a phenyl radical which is a straight-chain or branched alkyl radical having a total of 1 to 18 carbon atoms, R₂ is an alkyl radical having 4 to 8 carbon atoms, m is the number 0 or 1 and n is a number from 3 to 30.
