A method of expressing higher eukaryotic genes in Aspergillus by the use of a recombinant plasmid capable of integrating into the chromosomal DNA of Aspergillus. It is preferable to use a transcription promoter inside a DNA structure contained in the plasmid, this promoter being that of a DNA sequence encoding an alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) enzyme or an enzyme. triosephosphateisomerase (TPI). Also described are promoters capable of directing the expression of a heterologous gene in Aspergillus, as well as other filamentous fungal species. |
