abstract |
A process for the production of an oil-in-water emulsion for pipeline transmission. The process comprises mixing hydrocarbon crude with an emulsifying composition(s) which contains water to form an oil-in-water emulsion having water content of from about 15 percent to about 60 percent by weight water and a viscosity sufficiently low for pipeline transmission. The process additionally comprises shearing and mixing the mixture of produced hydrocarbon crude and emulsifying composition(s) when the mixture is at a temperature of from about 100°F to about 200°F to form an oil-in-water emulsion. |
