A process for preparing optically active cyclopropanecarboxylic acids represented by formula (I), (wherein X represents a chlorine atom, a bromine atom, a methyl group or a trifluoromethyl group, and R' represents a hydrogen atom or a metal ion) or their salts. The process comprises asymmetrically hydrolyzing a cyclopropanecarboxylic acid ester represented by formula (II). (wherein X is as defined above and R represents a C, - C 4 alkyl group or a halogen atom- substituted C 1 C 4 alkyl group) with a microorganism or an esterase derived therefrom. |
