titleOfInvention | EYE SURGICAL INSTRUMENT FOR SUCTION AND RINSING. |
abstract | Ophthalmic device allowing irrigation of the eye and extraction of cortical fragments following an operation of the eye. This device comprises a needle (8) formed of two parallel tubes (8A and 8B) whose open ends are close to each other, a tube (8A) which can be connected to a syringe by means of a valve device (5) containing two one-way valves one of which (11) allows passage only in the direction from the tube (8A) to a syringe (1) and the other (12) of which ensures passage only in the direction from the syringe (1) to a discharge opening (14), the other tube (8B) being able to be connected to a supply of irrigation liquid. The device is used by inserting the needle into the selected part of the eye, letting the irrigation liquid flow into the eye and then actuating the syringe, first to extract the liquid and the fragments out of the eye by aspirating them into the syringe via the valve (11) then to discharge the liquid and the fragments towards the discharge opening (14) via the valve (12). |
