abstract The new compounds of the formula Ret-OA I wherein Ret the acyl residue of a retinoid carboxylic acid, A a residue (-CHR-CH₂O) n R¹, (-CH₂) m SR¹, (-CH₂) m XR², (-CH₂) m -Het, -N (R²) ₂, -C ( R⁴) ₂OC (O) R³, -CH₂-CH (OR²) CH₂OR² or -CH (CH₂OR²) ₂; R is hydrogen or methyl, R¹ is hydrogen, C 1-6 alkyl or C 1-6 alkanoyl, R² is C 1-6 alkyl, R³ C 1-6 alkyl, C 1-6 alkoxy, di-C 1-6 alkylamino, phenyl, substituted phenyl, styryl or styryl substituted in the phenyl radical or 2-benzoylphenoxy-C 1-6 alkyl; R⁴ is hydrogen, C 1-6 alkyl or phenyl; X> SO or> SO₂, Het the rest of an N-heterocyclic ring, n is an integer from 3-40 and m is an integer from 1-4, wherein R¹ is C 1-6 alkyl or C 1-6 alkanoyl when A is -CH₂SR¹, can be used as a remedy, especially for the topical treatment of dermatological diseases. The new compounds are obtainable, for example, by esterification of a retinoid carboxylic acid Ret-OH with an alcohol HA and, if appropriate, subsequent modification of reactive groups in the molecule.
