abstract Monoclonal antibodies that react with chlorinated nphenols, particularly, pentachlorophenol, and hybridomas nthat produce such antibodies are disclosed. Also a method nof producing such antibodies by producing an immunogenic nconjugate of a chlorinated phenol and a macromolecule ncarrier, immunizing an animal with the conjugate, obtaining nantibody-producing cells from the animal, fusing the cells nwith tumor cells to produce hybridomas, selecting from namong the hydridomas at least one that produces antibodies nreactive with the chlorinated phenol, and recovering the nantibodies. In addition, polyclonal antibodies to chlori­nnated phenols and methods of making such antibodies. Also nanalytic, diagnostic, investigational, separatory, and nother methods of using the antibodies, and compositions ncontaining the antibodies for such uses.
