abstract | Described are compounds useful in the treatment of coronary heart failure, hypertension, angina pectoris, cardiac arrhythmia, heart attacks or coronary vasospasms. The compounds are represented by the general formula (I), wherein R1 and R2 are selected independently of each other from the group consisting of lower alkyl, N-alkylphthalimido and N-alkylphthalimido derivatives, the group N -alkyl comprising at least two carbon atoms; A is a straight or branched chain hydrocarbon half containing 1 to 12 carbon atoms and 0 to 2 double bonds; R3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, -NH2 and -NCS; R4 is an aryl or heteroaryl radical; and R5 is a lower alkyl radical or A-R3; provided that when R3 is a hydrogen radical, at least one of the two elements R1 and R2 does not represent lower alkyl, including both pure enantiomers and mixtures thereof. Also disclosed are pharmaceutically acceptable salts of said compounds. |
