titleOfInvention Method and apparatus for investigating the gelification as a function of time of a reactive resin system
abstract To determine the gelling behaviour of reactive resin systems as a function of time in a better and more reliable way, the variations with time of temperature and the associated gelling times are determined for a plurality of different setpoint temperatures. The standardised conversion until the gelling point is reached is then calculated for every setpoint temperature on the basis of the measured temperature variation, the measured gelling time and the Arrhenius equation with starting values for the reaction constants roughly determined from the temperature variations. Finally, the reaction constants are varied until the calculated conversions are within a specified error limit, the reaction constants selected last representing the result. The apparatus adapted for this method has a container (2) with a microscopic capacity for the resin system to be examined, a heating bath (1) for the container (2), a viscosity measuring device for the resin, a recording device for the resin temperature and a time recording device. The viscosity measuring device comprises a temperature sensor (3) which is immersed in the container (2) and which moves up and down automatically, and a detector (61-63) which interacts with the sensor (3) and which responds if the resistance force brought about by the viscosity of the sample exceeds a limit value. <IMAGE>
