Layers containing protein-containing binders, in particular gelatin layers, such as those present in photographic recording materials, are hardened by means of an instant hardening agent by covering them with an at least two-layer hardening pour, the lower part of which contains the instant hardening agent and the upper part of which is applied simultaneously with or immediately after the lower part of the layer protein-containing binder but does not contain a hardening agent. The hardened layers have improved surface properties (wet scratch resistance, sliding properties). |
