titleOfInvention Densified particulate materials for smoking products
abstract The present invention is directed to densified particulate nmaterials formed by centrifugal action exerted upon extrunded admixtures comprising carbon, tobacco, or mixtures nthereof, and the use of such materials in smoking products. npreferably as a flavor enhancer and/or extender of natural ntobacco. n The present invention is also related to cigarette-type nsmoking articles utilizing the densified particulate materials nof the present invention as an extender of the fuel and/or as a nflavor enhancer. n In cigarette-type smoking articles, the densified particunlate material of the present invention may also serve as a nsubstrate or carrier for an aerosol forming substance. The use nof densified particulate tobacco, in whole or in part, as such a nsubstrate affords many advantages heretofore unavailable in ncigarette-type smoking articles. n The use of the densified particulate materials of the prensent invention in conventional tobacco products, e.g., cigarenttes, cigars, pipe tobacco, and the like, affords advantages nheretofore unavailable. Preferably, a mixture of densified ncarbon and densified tobacco is used, both as an extender/nfiller and as a flavor enhancer.
