titleOfInvention | RADIATION DETECTING DEVICE WITH FREEZER COOLING. |
abstract | A radiation detector device (10), of the type used for the detection of infrared radiation, consists of two cylindrical stainless steel containers (11, 19), one internal and the other external, the internal container (19) being suspended from the top wall (13) of the outer container (12) using a thin, relatively long stainless steel tube (24). A fixing member (33) ensuring a thermal transfer is fixed on the bottom of the internal container (19) and extends outwards and then upwards between the containers, away from it, until an opening window-shaped in the outer container (11). A sensor (36) is fixed so as to ensure good thermal contact with the fixing member (33) at the level of the window (17) and is maintained essentially at the same temperature as the surface of the bottom of the internal container. The surfaces of the inner and outer containers can be polished to make them specular, to prevent heat transfer to the inner container by infrared radiation. The use of stainless steel for the outer container also allows the use of a window structure (15) for the vacuum port having a metal seal (47) minimizing potential gas infiltration. |
