abstract A process for the spray application of a fluid which is an adhesive or surface coating or a precursor thereof, characterised by supplying such a fluid to a sprayhead (1) and applying an intense electrical field to the fluid such that the fluid moves from the sprayhead (1) under the influence of the field to form a spray, the field being intensified by means of a charged electrode (18) adjacent to the sprayhead.
