The invention provides a compound of the formula n(I): R-O nCH₂CH₂O nCH₂) n -Z wherein R is a glycosyl group, nm is an optional positive integer, n is an integer of 1 nto 3 and Z is -CHO, -CH₂OH or -COOH. n The compound of the formula (I′): nR-O nCH₂CH₂O nCH₂) n -CHO wherein R, m and n are as ndefined above and the formula (I‴): nR-O nCH₂CH₂O nCH₂) n -COOH wherein R, m and n are nas defined above is useful as a chemically modifying nagent for protein. n The compound of the formula (I″): nR-O nCH₂CH₂O nCH₂) n -CH₂OH wherein R, m and n nare as defined above is useful as a protein fractionating nagent. |
