titleOfInvention | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATIC IMMUNOCHEMISTRY ANALYSIS. |
abstract | A chemical reaction analysis system controls the temperature and volume of reagents to improve the accuracy of quantitative measurements of specific proteins and other immunochemicals in body fluids. The reaction takes place in a cuvette (48, 50) in a nephelometric optical module (44, 46). A detector (246, 248) senses the temperatures of the reaction buffer liquids as they flow through the cuvette (48, 50), and a heat exchanger (250, 252) increases or decreases buffer liquid temperatures. A control circuit (242) responsive to the temperature sensor (246, 248) controls the heat exchange device (218) to maintain the temperature of the buffer liquids and the cuvette (48, 50) within a temperature range selected. The system may also include a sample collection station (18), sample probe means for withdrawing a selected sample from the sample collection station (18), a sample preparation station, and means sample transport (20) for transporting the sample from the sample preparation station to the reaction cuvette (48, 50). The system may include an antibody collection station (108), antibody probe means (11) for removing antibody from the antibody collection station (108), an antibody preparation station, and means antibody transport (106) for transporting antibody from the antibody preparation station to the reaction cuvette (48, 50). |
