abstract |
A light-diffusing plate having a solar radiation transmittance lower than the luminous transmittance is prepared by a continuous process wherein a polymerisable material containing a leaf-form light diffusing agent is polymerised in a space between two continuous belts. The diffusing agent has an average maximum diameter of 3 - l00µm and a luminous transmittance of at least 20% and is insoluble in the monomer and has refractive index n and the thickness d (µm) such that [ n · d ] is 0.2 - 0.3µm, and is incorporated in an amount of 0.2 to 3.0% by weight. While the polymerisable material is still flowable, a compressive force is applied on the belts at least once and is such that the maximum value of the distance between the two belts is from (L+1) mm to (L+0.02) mm and the minimum value thereof is from (L-1) mm to (L-0.02) mm, in which L is the average distance between the two belts. |
