Recombinant DNA vector encoding a lytic bacterial transglycosylase, and its use in the preparation of 1,6-anhydromuramyl peptides |
abstract |
The subject matter of the invention is the production of lytic bacterial transglycosylases by recombinant DNA technology. The genes encoding the membrane bound and the soluble lytic transglycosylase of Escherichia coli were cloned into a high copy number plasmid suitable for overproduction of the enzymes. The transglycosylases obtained are useful for the digestion of murein to produce 1,6-anhydromuramyl peptides. |
