SYNTHETIC PEPTIDES AND THEIR USE FOR DIAGNOSIS AND VACCINATION AGAINST AIDS AND ITS ASSOCIATED COMPLEX. |
abstract |
Composition and method for detection and vaccination against the viral agents of AIDS and its associated complex (ARC). The composition is a synthetic peptide, the amino acid sequence of which is sufficiently homologous to the amino acid sequence of the gp 41 and gp 120 subunits of the glycoprotein of the gp 160 envelope of HTLV-III, LAV or ARC for produce an immunogenic response in a patient and has a hydrophilic region. The composition can be conjugated with a carrier suitable for use as an AIDS vaccine and its associated complex (ARC) or it can be linked to the ligand of a pair of specific bonds, brought into contact with a sample of biological fluid from the patient likely to have contracted AIDS or ARC and then be contacted with the anti-ligand of the specific binding pair for the detection of any antibody against the viral agents pathogenic of AIDS or its associated complex (ARC ) may be present in the sample. |
