abstract | Use of highly viscous hydrocarbons, including heavy crude oils and residual oils. More particularly, this invention relates to the use of viscous hydrocarbons by forming low viscosity hydrocarbon emulsions in water, which comprise (a) chemically unstabilized hydrocarbon-in-water emulsions, (b ) emulsions of hydrocarbons-in-water chemically stabilized, and (c) emulsions of hydrocarbons-in-water stabilized by a bioemulsifier, the latter being called hydrocarbosols, in which the drops of hydrocarbons dispersed in the continuous aqueous phase are substantially stabilized against the coalescence effect thanks to the presence of bioemulsifiers and, in particular, microbial bioemulsifiers, surrounding the drops at the hydrocarbon / water interface. Furthermore, this invention relates to the combustion of pre-atomized fuels which include both hydrocarbosols and other hydrocarbon-in-water emulsions consisting of viscous hydrocarbons. Disclosed methods and compositions facilitate the use of the hydrocarbon fuels described herein as combustibles without leaving residue. |
