titleOfInvention | Liposome transdermal drug delivery system |
abstract | A transdermal drug delivery device for delivering a physiologically active lipophilic drug across the surface of the skin at a rate chosen to be substantially constant for a period of at least about 24 hours. Said device comprises an aqueous phase matrix having a surface designed so that it can be placed against the surface of the skin and liposomes incorporated into the matrix containing the medicament in an occluded form and composed of lipid components chosen so as to produce said flow drug release. In one embodiment, the matrix contains a water soluble drug in a free form and the occluded lipophilic drug is a drug transport agent for facilitating transdermal absorption of the water soluble drug. |
