titleOfInvention METHOD AND COMPOSITION FOR REGULATING THE SERUM CALCIUM LEVEL OF MAMMALS.
abstract Method and composition for regulating the levels of serum calcium present in mammals by the oral administration of a composition comprising a polypeptide hormone such as that of the parathyroid (PTH) or calcitonin. The hormone polypeptide is protected against destruction in the digestive tract by its encapsulation in liposomes. The liposome preferably comprises a cationic amphiphilic agent, so that the surface of the liposome has a net charge which is positive. Agents for enhancing the action of liposome encapsulating hormones are also described.
