abstract The invention relates to the preparation of new effervescent couples and of compositions containing them by reaction of citric acid with an alkali carbonate or bicarbonate, the medium being brought to react with evolution of carbon dioxide until the acid is transformed. in mono- or di-alkali citrate.n n n The couples include a mixture of mono- and di-alkaline citrates in a weight ratio of between 8/1 and 1/10.n n n According to a particular embodiment of the invention, these pharmaceutical compositions also contain an antacid for the simultaneous treatment of gastric hyperacidity and of hypersecretion of histamine at the level of the Hâ‚‚ receptors.
