abstract A process for the preparation of carboxamides by acylation of amines with 2-benzothiazolylthioesters of carboxylic acids is described, which is characterized in that the amine is reacted in the form of an acid addition salt. This process is particularly advantageous when the amine in the form of the free base is not particularly stable, which is often the case in particular with 7-amino-cephalosporin derivatives. With the new process, 7-acylamino-cephalosporin derivatives can be produced in good yield and in great purity.
