titleOfInvention | Tower for analyzing system |
abstract | A tower assembly (11) for supporting a plurality of specimen tray assemblies (17) for use in an automated analyzing system (10). Each specimen tray assembly (17) includes a container tray (18) for holding a plurality of specimens and a cover member (20) having pad portions. The tower assembly (11) comprises a generally rectangular frame (37, 38, 45, 46) having a plurality of shelves (35) removably supported therein to provide a spaced apart parallel and overlapping array with the spaces between the shelves (35) receiving the specimen tray assemblies (17). The tower assembly (11) includes a system (88, 89, 109) for capturing the cover member (20) so that only the container tray (18) is moved to a work station (12) for inoculation or analysis while a cover member (20) is retained in the tower assembly (11). |
