abstract |
An electrolyte solution for use in an electrolytic capacitor comprises as a solute at least one quaternary ammonium salt of a carboxylic acid which selected from 5-40 wt % of (a) maleic acid and/or citraconic acid or (b) 7-30 aromatic carboxylic acid or (c) 1-40 wt % of a branched-chain aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, in (c) the salt has 11-30 C atoms. n The electrolyte solution has high electrical conductivity when used e.g. with Al foil electrodes. n The solvent is aprotic, preferably an amide or lactone. |
