abstract | The present invention relates to a photographic element comprising in a hydrophilic colloid layer a ballasted compound comprising a ballasting moiety that renders such compound fast to diffusion in said hydrophilic colloid layer and a photographically useful moiety linked to this ballasting moiety, the ballasting moiety corresponding to the general formula:n wherein A is hydrogen, C₁-C₂₀ alkyl, or aryl; R is C₁-C₂₀ alkyl; R¹ is hydrogen, hydroxy, sulpho, carboxy, cyano, a halogen atom, trifluoromethyl, hydroxyalkyl, sulphoalkyl, carboxyalkyl, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, acyl, R²CONH- , R²NHCO- , R²NHSO₂ , or R²SO₂N(R³)- , each of R² and R³ being hydrogen, C₁-C₅ nalkyl, or aryl and when both present having a same or a different significance. nThe present invention also relates to compounds comprising such ballasting moiety. |
