| abstract | Thermosetting polymer containing concrete compositions nwhich exhibit plastic-like properties are formed by admixing an naqueous polymer containing latex emulsion together with a nwater binding substance and a catalyst. The latex is comprised nof a thermosetting unsaturated polyester resin suspended in nwater containing an emulsifier. The water binding substance nand the catalyst are combined to form a hydraulic material prior nto mixture with the latex. Upon mixing of the latex and hydraunlic material, the catalyst polymerizes (crosslinks) the resin and nthe water of the latex hydrates the water binding substance nsuch that a formable paste-like concrete composition is nformed. The concrete may then be cured and set into any densired shape. |
