titleOfInvention Process for enzymatic separation of optical isomers of 2-aminobutanol
abstract A process for the enzymatic separation of optical isomers (S<+>) and (R ) of 2-aminobutanol comprises esterifying a N-carbamoyl derivative of formula: <CHEM> wherein R is a C1-C3 alkyl group or a benzyl group, with an ester of formula: <CHEM> wherein R, R min , which may be the same or different, are C1-C6 alkyl groups, at a temperature from 0 to 60 DEG C, in the presence of a lipase capable of giving rise to the esterificaton, in a stereoselective way, on optical isomer (R min ) of the N-carbamoyl derivative, and separating and hydrolyzing, by means of known methods, the obtained products (nonreacted (S ) N-carbamoyl derivative, and the formed ester) to give rise to (S<+>) 2-aminobutanol and (R ) 2-aminobutanol respectively.
