titleOfInvention | Stabilized cholesterol reagent and method for determining total cholesterol using the reagent |
abstract | A method and stabilized reagent solutions suitable for use in the determination of total cholesterol in biological fluids. The stablilized reagents comprise three component solutions. The first solution consists essentially of a lipase in an amount greater than 7 units per milliliter, cholesterol oxidase in an amount greater than 2 units per milliliter and a peroxidase in an amount greater than 15 units per milliliter. All are present in an organic solvent and a salt solution of 0.01 to 4.0 molarity. The second component solution is a perioxidase substrate in an amount of from 1 to 200 grams per liter, a surfactant in an amount of 0.5% to 30% v/v in an aqueous solution containing an organic solvent in an amount of from 5.0% to 90% v/v. The third component solution is an aqueous solution. |
