titleOfInvention Clamp valve
abstract An occlusion valve (10) for blocking fluid flow in a flexible plastic tube includes a linearly movable clamping member (24) coupled by a nut to a rotatable shaft. The shaft is coupled to an electric motor (44) by an electrically actuated clutch. The motor output shaft is mechanically forced to rotate in only one direction. The motor, coupled by the clutch, sets the shaft in rotation and linearly moves the clamping element away from the tube. A torsion spring (40) opposes this rotation. Once opened, the valve (10) will remain open as long as the clutch is actuated, since the motor shaft (44) will not rotate in the closing direction. To close the valve (10), the clutch is deactivated and the torsion spring (40) moves the clamping element (24) linearly against the flexible tube, blocking the latter.
