This invention pertains to a process for selectively reacting isobutylene with toluenediamine to form monotertiary butyl toluenediamine at high conversion. The process comprises contacting a toluenediamine feedstock containing the 2,4- or 2,6-toluenediamine isomer with isobutylene or an isobutylene precursor in the presence of an acidic zeolite catalyst having an effective pore size of about 6 to 8 Angstroms. An H-Y zeolite is preferred. |
